Concord Calendar: April 2017

There is no place like Concord, California in the spring. Mt. Diablo bursts with color as poppies bloom and wildflowers blossom, birds sing under the California sunshine and the East Bay emerges with events and activities for all. 


April Events

Wednesday, April 12

5:30 PM – Pasta Feed Fundraiser for the Arts 
Concord Art Association is hosting a night of fun, food and art in effort to raise funds for a nonprofit community art center and co-op gallery. Tickets are $30 per person and include a donation to the fundraiser.

Thursday, April 13

10:00 AM – Cards & Coffee at Bonjour Bakery and Café  
Join Liz Roberts Creates for a creative break and some coffee. The workshop is $5 and includes all supplies to create two handmade greeting cards.

3:00 PM – Storytelling with the Easter Bunny at Sunvalley Shopping Center
Pleasant Hill Library will be at Bunnyville for story time! Bring the kiddos for a story and photo with the Easter Bunny.

Friday, April 14

3:00 PM – 5th Annual Pig Roast at Black Diamond Brewing Co. 
Black Diamond Brewery is kicking off your weekend with food, friends, live music and a pig roast! Ruckatan Latin Tribe, a Latin-reggae infusion band, will be playing live music throughout the night and invite you to join in with your own instruments. Bring the lawn chairs, pack up the kids and start the weekend off right. This event is free and family-friendly!

Sunday, April 16

10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM – Easter Brunch at the Crowne Plaza
Enjoy a delicious Easter brunch at the Crowne Plaza. Menu includes freshly baked pastries, omelets, waffles, fresh local oysters and more. Tickets are available for $49 for adults, $44 for seniors and $19 for children (age 5-11) with three seating times to choose from. The Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance, so don’t forget your camera!

8:00 PM – Snoop Dogg with Method Man, Redman & Cypress Hill at Concord Pavilion

Friday, April 21

11:00 AM – Parkour Workshop with Parkour Master Maxwell Henry 
Internationally-known parkour athlete, coach and author Max Henry will be teaching a 2-hour seminar to challenge participants and improve their technique and confidence. This workshop is open to those over age 16 and costs $45. All experience levels are welcome.

7:00 PM – The Whoa at Black Diamond Brewery 
The Whoa, a newer East Bay band will be playing a free show at Black Diamond Brewing. There will be beer on tap and a food truck on site to fuel you for the rest of the evening.

9:00 PM – Rude Intoxicant at Red Hat 
Rude Intoxicant is live at Red Hat this Friday. The show starts at 9pm and is $7 at the door. This event is age 21+.

Saturday, April 22

7:30 AM – Annual Baby & Kids Consignment Sale 
Shop for kids’ clothing, books, toys and equipment at low prices from 7:30am to 12:30pm. Admission is $1 for adults and free for children. Don’t forget to bring a reusable bag!

9:30 AM – 2017 Autism Awareness Walk 
Raise awareness and support local individuals with autism at this fun community event. TOPS (Transition Options Program) and the Adaptive Learning Center have organized a two-mile walk beginning at Loma Vista Adult Center. Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for children under age 12 and individuals with disabilities.

10:00 AM – Divas & Gents in Hats Cancer Awareness Brunch 
The Iscah Uzza Fashion House is back for the annual breast cancer and prostate cancer awareness brunch. This event unites those battling cancer, survivors, friends and family to celebrate and encourage each other. There will be music, food, raffles and speakers from 10am to 1pm at The Crowne Plaza Concord. Tickets are $45 per person.

12:00 PM – Bay Area Craft Beer Festival 
Spend your Saturday sipping over 100 different brews from the Bay Area. Over 50 breweries will be pouring, plenty of food will be available for purchase and live music will be playing throughout the day. This event is open to everyone over age 21.

9:00 PM – Embraceable Youth at Vinnie’s Bar & Grill 
Embraceable covers all kinds of music from Bruno Mars to Billy Joel and Daft Punk to Bruce Springsteen. This event is free and open to those over age 21.

9:00 PM – Volume Freak with Dead River Rebels and Red Devil Lie at Red Hat Sports Bar
Catch three live bands for $5 at Red Hat Sports Bar. This event is age 21 and over.

Monday, April 24

10:00 AM – Swing for Science Golf Tournament 
Carondelet High School Golf Team is hosting a benefit tournament for the school’s STEM program. The tournament is held at Blackhawk Country Club includes on-course games and activities, 9th hole premium hosted cocktail reception, wine and sports silent auction and a clubhouse banquet dinner. 

Thursday, April 27

6:00 PM – Free Movie Night 
It’s the first Free Movie Night of the year at West Wind Drive-In and Public Market! Movies include Moana, Sing, xXx and King Kong. There be family-friendly activities and games in addition to movies.

Friday, April 28

10:30 AM – 13th Annual Peter & Gaile Ginocchio Memorial Golf Tournament 
This annual tournament is perfect for a day out with friends or a family affair. The tournament is a four-person scramble with registration beginning at 10:30 am and a shotgun start at 12:30 pm. Registration fees include green fees, cart rental, range balls, lunch and dinner. Don’t forget to dress up for the “Caddyshack” outfit contest!

Saturday, April 29

8:00 AM – 11th Annual Kops for Kids Run, Walk & Roll 
All ages and abilities are welcome to join this fun annual race. 10K, 5K and one mile courses are open for the whole family. The event benefits Kops for Kids, a non-profit organization where retired and active officers work with local youth to prevent violence, gangs, drug abuse and juvenile delinquency in Contra Costa County.

9:00 AM – The K9 Charity Challenge  
Functional Muscle Fitness and Concord Police Canine Association are teaming up to host a fitness challenge to raise funds to help retired police dogs. All fitness levels are welcome to attend and entry is free with a suggested donation.

10:00 AM – Spring Art Show & Sale 
Browse original works, shop for gifts and support local artists. Photography, prints, cards, home décor, crafts and more will be on display at Concord Public Library this Saturday only.

6:00 PM – VINTAGE at Concord Clarion Hotel  
The Concord Clarion presents VINTAGE, a retro classic band playing at The Bistro. Come by for an evening of live music, delicious food and refreshing cocktails. Entry is free and table reservations are available.

Sunday, April 30

2:00 PM – First Annual Spring Fling with Our Studio 
Concord’s local dance studio is hosting their first ever Spring Fling. The afternoon includes a 2 hour Zumba class, vendors, food, drinks and fun. This event is free and open to everyone.

Weekly Events

Every Monday

5:00-9:00 PM - Off the Grid Food Trucks at Todos Santos Plaza
Stop in for dinner at one of eight rotating food trucks and enjoy live, local music while you eat. This event is located on Grant Street between Salvio Street and Willow Pass Road and is open to all ages.

Senior Day at Diablo Creek Golf Course
Play a round or two with new and old friends. Every Monday!

Every Tuesday

10AM-2PM - Concord Farmer's Market at Todos Santos Plaza
Get your grocery shopping done and support your local farmers at the same time. Starting next month, the Farmer's Market will take place on Thursday evening in addition to Tuesdays.

7:30-11:00 PM - Country Night at Vinnie's Bar & Grill
Country dance classes begin at 7:30 PM, then at 9:00 PM the floor opens to anyone feeling groovy. Country Night is every Tuesday at Vinnie's!

Every Wednesday

9:30 PM - Jam Night at Vinnie's Bar & Grill
Country dance classes begin at 7:30 PM, then at 9:00 PM the floor opens to anyone feeling groovy. Country Night is every Tuesday at Vinnie's!

Every Thursday

9:00 PM - Salsa Night at Vinnie's Bar & Grill
Show off your moves every Thursday at Vinnie's! There are no formal dance lessons, but the music is good and the crowd is lively no matter if you are a seasoned salsa dancer or just beginning.
